Mom Stuck in ER with Newborn Asks Question Online About Hospital Parking— Is Floored By the Response

CBS News reports that when Kaylee Goemans arrived at the emergency room at the Royal Victoria Health Center with her 6-week-old son, Dominic, she paid the parking meter before rushing inside.

When Dominic’s doctors told Kaylee they wanted to do more tests, she knew that her 3-hour parking would not be enough. But she had used all of her change. She feared her car could be towed.

Refusing to leave her son alone, Kaylee turned to the Facebook group “the NEW Barrie Moms everything buy and swap”. To see what would happen if she didn’t feed the meter.

“Not sell related. I’m at RVH with my newborn and we now need to do more ultrasound and X-rays. I put all my change in the street metre but its going to run out at 3:30. Will I get towed or just a ticket? I can’t leave my newborn to run out, and we didn’t expect to be this long,” she wrote.

In just minutes, other Moms responded to her question… but not in the way she expected.

“Just a ticket, but what kind of car and colour. I’m not far. I can go put change in it for you in about an hour on my way back home if you are still there,” one member replied.

It wasn’t the only one. Many other group members offered to go pay for more time. After 40 minutes, Stephanie Goguen, who works at the Royal Victoria Health Center, posted a photo of the parking meter with 2 more hours on it and the caption: “Done.”

Kaylee confirmed to CBS news that in total, five women stopped by the hospital to feed the meter so she could focus on what was really important, her son’s health.

“I have a saying,” she tells CBS, “Not every day is good, but there is good in every day!”

What an amazing story. It just goes to show that there are amazing people out there!
